    Description

A very striking stromatolite specimen. Not much of this stromatolite is available any more. This is Copperia tubiformis from the Precambrian of Australia. The long dimensions measure 85mm and the short dimensions 65mm and 70mm respectively.  Weight is approx. 4.1 ounces. The thickness is very much a wedge with the max dimension being 1 cm and the very thinnest part around 3mm with most length being inbetween those 2 measurements.  Stromatolites were formed by masses of green or blue-green algae, aka ''cyanobacteria''. This stromatolite is from the Precambrian and estimated to be
2.2 to 2.4 billion years old.
This slab has smooth matte like polish on one side only. This is a stunning, cherry picked specimen.
