Rare Palembang Indonesia Coins 1400's - 1821

Description

Here is a trio of rare Palembang Coins from Indonesia.  Palembang is one of the oldest cities in Indonesia located on the island of Sumatra.  These coins were cast in trees ( No not kidding!) then broken off the trunks. It's common to find wood grain striations and the remnant of the stem attached to the coin on these pieces.  These were cast in tin alloyed with lead so they are soft metal.  Dating is by the Islamic calendar which begins in 622.  A picture of the Arabic numerals is shown in picture number 2.  These are very rare due to the soft metal and age to find these coins intact.  Here are three nice pieces.  The winning bidder gets all three coins and the exact coins in the picture.
